 Section Launches Mentoring Project!

The Appellate Practice Section wants to help practitioners with appellate problems and will provide match-ups for telephone or email consultations with experienced appellate lawyers. The goal of the project is to assist young lawyers, occasional practitioners, and experienced appellate lawyers venturing in new areas, as well as promote interaction among Section Members.

The project will begin September 1, 2003. The section is actively recruiting mentors in the following appellate areas:  Administrative, Civil, Criminal, Family, Juvenile, Worker's Comp, or Federal.

Complete details and mentor sign-up forms are available on our website.

Discussion with the Court

Justices teach participants to avoid common mistakes, such as treating jurisdiction as a foregone conclusion in writing briefs on merits.

Justice Anstead urges attorneys to act locally to help protect Florida's court system from funding challenges.

Dessert Reception and Awards

Late in the evening, after all the meetings, luncheons, receptions and dinners of the Florida Bar's busy Annual Meeting, the Section's signature event unfolds. All Bar members are welcomed to enjoy the Annual Dessert Reception in honor of Florida's judiciary. Feasting on a bountiful array of specialty desserts, cordials and gourmet coffee, we honor distinguished members of the bench and bar with our annual presentation of awards.
