The Appellate Practice Section presented its Fourteenth Annual James C. Adkins Award to Justice Raoul G. Cantero, III at this year's Dessert Reception in Boca Raton. At the same time, it awarded its 2008 Pro Bono Award to Dorothy F. Easley.

Webster's Tips for Successful

During the February 26, 2008 CLE conference call on preparing for oral argument, reference was made to a set of helpful tips compiled by Judge Peter Webster, of the First District Court of Appeal. The Appellate Practice Section of The Florida Bar is a 1700-person organization devoted to promoting excellence in Florida's state and federal appellate courts.

Its members include civil and criminal lawyers, plaintiff and defense lawyers, and others interested in the appellate process.

We invite the participation of those members of The Florida Bar who share our interests and objectives — and hope that they find this web site an open door to our activities.

This concentrated, three-day workshop is designed to provide participants at all skill levels with the advocacy tools necessary for a successful practice. Important Notice From the Fourth District Court of Appeal

Due to recent mandated budget cuts, the Fourth District Court of Appeal is changing the hours of public access to its facilities. Effective July 1, 2008, the Clerk's Office, Library, and entrance to the building will close to the public each business day at 4:00 p.m. The court will continue to open at 8:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. Of importance, no filings will be accepted at the courthouse after 4:00 p.m. Click HERE for more information.
